Dangerous loops

The Saimaa ringed seal is endangered mammal. Its only enemy is human being. How dangerous we are? Still many are afraid of birds, butterflies, lizards, sharks, kittens... and doesn't mind about walking through the crowds. (I have stitched it also on a CreditCardHolder.) (My own design <3 )

Loops are cute, warm but dangerous in the wrong place. In my BlnaketNo2 they are there where they supposed to be -warming up my freezing winter nights. I still have plenty of time to finish it.

I so love my favourite yarn shop. On the other day when I popped in the lovely lady had saved me one more teetee stella ball for my own designed blanket! She had been cleaning the store and found one more. I so love that service.

My 1st fixing

May I intorduce HIM? He is my dear bunny I have had almost all my life. The Dearest Person Ever. He looks sad but when ever he is with me I can tell he is smiling. His squares remind certain kind of cookies we used to have in the childhood. His nose is like a chocolate bean. His ears hear all the secrets and his eyes see wide away.

He has been loved so much. And fixed time after time. And yes, I fixed him. All by myself, with my tiny little fingers. I knew I will never be too big to have him. <3

Sparkling in the blue

Oh boy, the shawl and evening bag are finished! Well, the bag needs a decoration (bead work) for its zipper but we can call it finished by now. :) The dress itself is at a good point too. The dress needs only zipper and the hem. I must confess I have saved hundreds of euros by making this dress, shawl and bag for myself. They all are my own design too.

Framing No1 -tutorial

One of the cheapest and easiest way to frame your cross stitch project is to use this kind of frame and do it by yourself at home.

The most difficult thing in this is to get it right in the middle and straight.

Cut the extra fabric off.

Neaten the edges by zigzag or overlock.

Tack the edge and tighten it gently.

Secure the fabric and don't forget the knot at the end.

WOW! It is finished!

Summer solstice time

Our MidSummer time was the coldest in 30 years! So, I am still wearing my woollen socks. My weather has been something most people call winter. But still I am enjoying about the summer. The sun shines all day and night. The warmth just disappeared... MidSummer celebration at summer solstice time is as big fest as Christmas (Yule) around the winter solstice here in Finland. (By the way, we call them juhannus and joulu... )

I have spent my days sewing...

Did you know that some fabric shops can print you (for free) the fabric information so you don't need to remember it all?

I started to create my evening dress for the special celebration in July.

I had to pick up very old pattern...

...to make the piece to see how it fits or does not at all. The result was -after ten years- it still fits. Yeppee, it makes it all easier! So I had to make only the design changes to the pattern. :) WOW, I am so happy!

So I re-draw the pattern with the desired changes.

I cut it all.

And I prepaired it all for sewing. I will make the dress, shawl and evening bag.

Wool in fibres and yarns

More WoollyAdventures have been going on. This is Lulu's 1st big BunnyJump in the BigBigWorld. She was braver than we ever believed. She loves her sister Viola and is annoyed if she is away. But on her 1st WoollyAdventure she didn't miss her too much. There was Gynter with her (of course far enough to avoid the accident to happen). Gynter is so used to these WoollyAdventures and doesn't mind so much about all the happenings in the wild. Lulu has been outside a lot but in a fence. Slowly she has got used to all the sounds and smells. She is not gutless but prefers Viola to try it all out first. Now Lulu is finally ready for the WoollyAdventures. <3

I know I have not finished the BlanketNo2 yet but still I started BabyBlanketNo2 which is my own design.

I am using GrannySquares in it...

I finished my last scarf with these shades. (Yep, my own design.) This is for your special day Dear B. ;)

I never desire to have farmed flowers during the cold season. I never expect roses or other beautiful plants to cheer up my Polar Nights. I have my flowers in the garden and from May to September-October I can daily enjoy about them. On the summer monts I expect these little sunshines to appear into my house every now and then. Convallaria majalis is one of my favourite free groving flower.

Top of all is Trollius europaeus.

Happy MidSummer time to everyone!
XOXOXO

Grass spots

WoolySecret goes on well. The rabbits have started to grow their fur and they really don't look awful anymore. They live happy and interesting life in our BunnyWorld. There is more specific information at BunnyBarn about the cages.

The rabbits are allowed to dirt themselves as long as it is not wet. We don't mind about fresh grass spots on the paws. The hair around the paws will anyway be the 2nd quality so there is no reason to deny happy bunny adventures.

Some people concentrate on breeding the best quality wool. We are not breeders. We are concentrating growing the best quality wool from well bred animals. We believe offering them happy life leads to better quality by minimizing the stress and creating perfect circumstances for wool production.

Carry on all the way

I have a habbit to carry on my projects with me everywhere and all the time. This time I brought it into a car. No, I was not driving. I was crocheting.

If you are somewhere else than on familiar region, use proper book shop map, not a map like this. This map gives you a direction but if you don't know what you are doing, save your life and buy a proper map.

This is Sweden, North Sweden. The same survival instructions work there than in Finland. When ever you see a gas station use it; no matter do you feel need to.

And yes, it is true, when you think it can't be it is. No gas station, but don't worry, you are on the right way as your map tells you even the road would look like this.

And if that road ends up check out is there another way to get over it.

Can you see the blossoms? The Arctic nature is rugged, barren and stark but still it survives.

The Arctic nature is white even on the summer time.

But white is beautiful and full of light.

There is the river which is calm and...

...savage.

In all of its beauty it pushes you away...

...and calls you to come closer to see it all better.

There are several places to have a picnic. Down the river...

..or up by the river. What ever you decide.

There you can watch it and enjoy about it.

But if you want to relax, leave the smallest kids at home when you go to visit Jockfall. It is perfect place to outdoor with kids over 10-11 years, teens love it, but as an parent it is good to know, most of the dangerous places are not fenced. The river takes even there where it seems to be nice and kind.

Pretty pot holder

During July I have drop in few times to my favourite yarn shop Pieni lankapuoti. There is always something on sale so it is interesting go to see the new trends and finds.

One of my finds is Italian Adriafil's Fiore trends 100% cotton yarn (50g / 90m). This is shade no 085. It is white but not blank, it has shades from pink to turquoise. The shades all together form out tender surface.

I decided to create just a flat surface to let the shades make the impression. I crocheted a pot holder for a gift to welcome special people move close to me. It is my own design.

I used Marks & Kattens ECObomull 100% cotton yarn for finishing. This is shade no 102 and it is bright white. It matches well with Fiora trends and calms it all down.

I crocheted three different kind of flowers to make it look a bit romantic and country styled.

It looks like this from the front side...

...and like this from the back side.

I made also a small loop that it would be easy to hang it somewhere around the kitchen.

The loops is on the back side but still there and easy to use.
